We bought our 2nd house, the one we are in now, one year ago. It was so exciting because we were a growing family and were busting out the seams of our last house. It was also the perfect time to sell because we ended up making over 110k, which allowed us to buy bigger and nicer then we had ever dreamed. We went from 1100 sq. ft. to 2300 sq. ft., we definitely had to get used to all the room we had but it was amazing for the kids to have their own rooms and be able to run around and play in such a big space.
Little did I know buying a bigger house meant more furniture and the furniture in our last house I had lived with for 5 years and the blue walls, while I loved them when I first painted them, they were starting to get on my nerves by year 5. So of course that meant I needed all new furniture with an all new home design. So I hit up pinterest and started living the dream, designing a whole new house. By the time I got the house filled I ran out of money to remodel the kitchen.
I was loving my new house, every room, except for the kitchen, it was becoming the ‘ugly room’ with it’s ’80’s oak cabinets and tiled countertop with dirty grout all over. I couldn’t wait to get in there and make it look pretty but it just wasn’t in the budget so I had to live with it a year.
Our tax refund came this year and we had two options: a vacation or a kitchen remodel. While I would have loved a vacation, I know that I lived with my kitchen every day and knew that needed a major change, I just was hoping my husband had the same thoughts. I mentioned it to him and he loved the idea and thought it was a great way to add value to our home!
So new kitchen here we come!
