While I am away this week on the disney cruise, this entire week will be filled with Disney Stories from some amazing bloggers! So make sure to come back and get your disney fix for the week! You can find my cruise itinerary and all the specifics on this post I wrote here.
Today the ship will be stopping in San Diego and we booked an excursion to the San Diego Zoo. I am really excited about it, I heard it was amazing and we are both big animal lovers. YAY!
And here is the Disney Story for today:
Hello everyone! I am Pamela, and I am the owner of Peanut Lilly Creations, and I also blog over at Macdonald's Playland. I'm happy to be here to fill in a little for Melissa while she's enjoying her cruise with her hubby & Mickey! :) I'm excited she's given me the opportunity to share one of my Disney stories with you today! My husband and I are big Disney fans! We have been avid Disney visitors for all the years we have been together (we have season passes), he proposed to me in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle during Christmas time (my dream proposal that you can read about here), and Disneyland is also where I told him I was pregnant with our daughter, through a Disneyland caricature. See the picture below? Yep...there's the proof. :) How I told him we were expecting is the Disney story I am happy to share with you all today :)
So, I told my husband we were expecting our 1st child with the help of a Disneyland caricature artist and the Disney cast members!
How did I pull it off? You can read the full details here, but in a nutshell, after some awesome slickness on my part (ahem) and planning the details secretly with the extremely amazing and helpful Disney workers and our caricature artist, I was able to not only pull off a successful surprise for my husband, but we also got it all on VIDEO! :) You can watch the video below! (note: you'll see some photos of us through our relationship through the years...we started dating in 2001...and at the end of the video is where you'll see how I surprised him!)

I won't get into too much detail, but having our daughter was extremely planned and prayed for. She is an absolute blessing, and finding out we were pregnant was a dream come true. To sum it up, telling my husband I was pregnant was one of the happiest moments of my life. We will forever cherish this memory and are so glad it's on video. As Kim, (our caricature artist) drew our picture (it took about 40 LONGGGG minutes), I sat there looking patient with my husband (inside I wanted to spaz out!) just talking to him casually. Random people at the park would come by and see what she was drawing, realize what was going on, and would smile & laugh. They did a great job keeping the secret from Scott, who sat there smiling and chattin with me...he was completely oblivious.
When she turned the drawing around, Scott didn't see the message at first, and he just laughed at the funny cartoon version of us. Then the second time he looked at it, he thought the message was a funny joke by the artist (?? haha). The third time, it all finally came clear...and as you'll see in the video, he was absolutely stunned. I had a little..er...big, hard cry with him. The Disneyland workers (who again, were all in on it) and people that were watching everything going on were all cheering and clapping and laughing and "awww"-ing. Our caricature artist gave us both a hug after and told us how we "moved her" and she even teared up. It was all so sweet, we shared plenty of tears, and it is truly one of our fondest memories. Needless to say, it worked out perfectly and my husband was so surprised and absolutely thrilled.
We went off and had the rest of the day at Disneyland...pretty much in a happy daze, talking about everything that just happened, and the amazing journey of parenthood ahead. Our daughter, Lilly-Jade, was born November of 2011 and is now 10 months old :) She has been to Disneyland about 5 times in her little life so far, and though she doesn't understand yet, we are sure to show her every time where mommy & daddy were engaged by the castle, and she even met the caricature artist & some of the Disney workers who played such a big part in telling her daddy that she was on her way to the world! :) They even mentioned how many people have come up to them over the past year saying they saw our video, which was really cool to hear.
Disneyland really is where our dreams have come true!
(Again, to get the full details of my story, you can read my full post on it here)
Thanks for reading, and thanks for having me on your blog again, Melissa! Happy Disney days!
