Disney Week Day 1

While I am away this week on the disney cruise, this entire week will be filled with Disney Stories from some amazing bloggers! So make sure to come back and get your disney fix for the week! You can find my cruise itinerary and all the specifics on this post I wrote here.

This morning we will be flying to LA at around 8:30am and boarding the ship around 12pm. Can't Wait!

And here is the Disney Story for today:

Hi Y'all, I'm Amanda and I blog at Interpreted by Me. Melissa asked me to a guest post about my Disney experience while she is off on her wonderful Disney cruise. We all know about the fun side of Disney with the theme parks, rides, and characters. Today I want to share about my trip to Disney for the 2007 Children's Miracle Network Conference in Orlando, FL.
Me, A CMN Champion, As. (my sorority sister and our other chapter delegate)
As president of my sorority in college I was chosen as a delegate to the conference because we raised more money than any other collegiate Phi Mu chapter for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. These hospitals help children in our own communities battling illnesses from asthma to cancer. Each year CMN chooses a child from each state to be a champion. Champions are kids with amazing stories of bravery and courage. These champions and their families are brought to Disney for a week long vacation.  Here is a list of the 2012 champions by state.
The Alumna chapter delegate, Me, As., and Tracy Bird at the Telethon taping
At the conference I was able to witness the Parade of Champions. Each child is brought in with their family in a parade. There is CMN and Disney staff all around cheering them on. We then got a chance to go around and meet these amazing kids. The kids were all so happy despite their struggles. It was truly a humbling experience. The parade was my favorite event but we also got to go to concerts, a banquet, a day at the parks, and I was on the CMN telethon with Tracy Bird. All the people at Disney went above and beyond. I already knew Disney was a magical place, but it really is the place where dreams come true.
