Some WEIRD Facts...

I thought I would do a fun little "get to know me" post! Everyone has some weird facts about them that only a few close family or friends know, right? I think we try to hide these things to feel better about ourselves or to make others think we're perfect. Well, I have yet to meet a perfect person yet and from my 27 years of living, I don't think I ever will. But isn't that what's cool about people, everyone's different? I honestly would rather hear about your "flaws" than all your "perfect-ness", I think it makes you interesting as a person and it also makes me connect to you more.

So in honor of "getting to know me", I am getting real honest here and revealing some weird fact about me:

I am afraid of chemicals. I will not let my husband use any kind of house chemicals or anything unless 1. There is no other option and 2. All windows and doors are open. I know it's so weird but if I can smell it, then I start to panic and if I touch the chemicals, I wash my hands a zillion times to get it off. Yes, we use a lot of soap and water to clean things in our house lol

I cannot stay the night in my own house by myself. My husband knows that if he wants to do something with the guys to tell me in advance so I can make plans to stay somewhere else. It doesn't happen very often but lets just say the last time he told me he was leaving last minute I had a huge anxiety attack.

I can sing and even talk in front of huge crowds of people but if you put me in front of a small group or one on one, I panic. Like seriously I would rather be sick in bed then have to lead like a small group in my church or something. What's weird about this one is that if you give me a task and I have a job to lead a small group, that I am amazing at, but the just talking in front of people that is what makes me nervous.

I am crazy organized but I am also a huge procrastinator. haha YES, you can be both apparently.

I am amazing at making my house look like it's always clean. I have this huge thing where I race to clean up my house from top to bottom anytime I hear someone is coming over. But I guarantee that if you stopped by unexpectedly and if you actually got past me at the door, you would see the messiness that is me :)

90% of the time, I sing the wrong words to songs. It annoys my husband to no end. My sister found this video on youtube a long time ago and ever since then when someone says "I found you" everyone replies. "Miss MooGoo" haha

I have a bad habit of always starting new things... like I just went over to my sisters house and the next thing I know... we're starting a daycare? WHAT?!!! lol

I have the worst spending habits ever. I definitely inherited that from my dad. This goes along with my starting something new things, once I pour my heart into something, I have no problem emptying my wallet out for the "cause".

Aright, Alright, That's enough weird things about me...

Want to win a free medium ad space on my blog?

Tell me a weird fact about YOU in the comments below
and next week I will pick a winner from all your weirdness haha :)

I always check behind the shower curtain when coming into the bathroom after being gone from home for a while.... I mean it's the obvious place for an ax murder to hide right?!

Fun post! I also do not like to stay home alone at night. I can talk in front of people if I have time to prepare, but freak out if it's sprung on me. I even hate just standing up to introduce myself. I'm thinking I'm going to say something stupid or fall over or have something on my face, etc etc.

I have issues with food textures. I won't eat mushy grapes, I won't eat bananas because they are slimy, peaches freak me out because they are "furry".

This is great! Thank you for sharing :) You have a dear of touching chemicals the way that I have a fear of touching raw meat!

I can't go into the washroom with bare feet. Ever. Even at home. I also always smell the dryer sheets as soon as the laundry is done. It's like I need to check to make sure it did its job. Both so weird. My husband thinks I'm a nut lol.

I hate to be barefoot!

This is such a great way to get to know you!!

My weird fact would be that I broke my collar bone twice in the same spot. They say third time's a charm right ;)

I'll give you a few:
1. When I walk into a room, I almost always do a quick scan for spiders.
2. I'm afraid of the woods: all forests have a killer in them.
3. When I use the remote to lock my car, I will hit the button about 15 times, even though I hear the locks click and see the lights flash.

I could go on, but I won't bore you. Let's just say that I'm a real weirdo.

Hah, this is such a FUN post! Love it!

My weird fact? After George Lucas unveiled his first Star Wars prequel, I discovered I could do bizarre voices . . . like Jar Jar Binks . . . in high school, this morphed into a frighteningly accurate immitation of Gollum, posture and everything. It was used as motivation for the three little boys I babysat (After begging and begging me, I'd finally reply "If you're good, I'll do Gollum," and then they'd freak out) . . . I can still do it, but with less excitement . . . Though, on occasion I would break it out for my former middle school students. Again, teacher's ridiculous performance in exchange for good behavior . . .

Great post!

I am scared to death of penguins. Emperor penguins can be 4-6 feet tall and the thought of a giant birdlike creature freaks me out. My husband FORCES me to go see the penguins at the zoo to "desensitize". It's not working...

Every day when I come home from work I check all the windows to make sure they are still closed, and check behind the shower curtain to make sure nobody is hiding there!

I love quirky 'about me' posts! I totally feel you on the organized procrastinator front! It's completely possible, I can attest to that as well.

As for weirdness... I think the weirdest thing I do is that I don't eat/drink anything that is blue.

I've never liked the blue raspberry flavor or the fact that it stains my mouth so easily. I never thought it was all that strange, until moments when I've shared it with others. The most recent time being this past weekend when two close friends proclaimed the best Popsicles were blue and I protested, then explained my stance. It may be weird to others, but hey, I know what I like!

I don;t like it when I'm eating something soft and i find something hard in it or I'm eating something hard and there's something soft inside. Yuck!! Hate the unexpected in food.

Wow, some great "weird" facts here. I don't think I have any really weird facts about me, but I have never colored my hair. It has changed shades over the years, but just through my natural hormones/chemistry.

I love this post!!!

I have a TON of weirdness, but just a couple are:

1. I don't have any cavities. None. Not even in my baby teeth.

2. I am scared of the basement and will run up the stairs EVERY time because I am sure someone is chasing me.

3. Our house is haunted and whatever is there hates my Andy Warhol print and it freaks me out.

4. I am scared to death of birds. We had chickens and I couldn't go in the coop to lock it. I made my kids do it.

Thanks for the fun!

I am absolutely the same way when it comes to speaking in front of a crowd. Large groups, even hundereds- no problem. A few people-nerves city!

My hubby and I have exactly the same birthday. Day and year. Very awkward when we're out to dinner, ordering drinks, and the waiter asks us if we're twins. Yeah...

I hate the number 6. Can't have anything to do with it. Refuse to keep the volume on level 6 in my car.

I'm also organized but get an A+ in procrastinating. It goes together. This post was great!

I go on food streaks... like I LOVE a certain food for a period of time (like 3 months or so usually) & have to have it almost every day. Then all of a sudden I can't stand the thought of it. At this point, we usually have a ton of that food item in the house & it all goes to waste. Most recently, this has happened with peanut butter on graham crackers, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, and turkey burgers. The thought of them now makes me feel a little ill.

I don't like it when my feet are dirty and can't go to bed with dirty feet. So you will find me on, a somewhat nightly, regular basis with my leg hiked up in the sink washing my feet.

Love this post! And the chemicals? Me too!
Actually though, I have a chemical sensitivity. That means, most things like candles, air fresheners, scented laundry sheets, any thing with bleach or ammonia will give me a terrible head ache.
Want to make things even worse? I like my house to smell good! So I buy candles and if they are to strong I give them away!

anika♥Lee said...

I wash my hands for at least 18 seconds each time. :)

Kenzie Smith said...

I find myself doing a lot of those same things! I can't sleep in bed by myself so if John wants to go out and do something I either stay awake until he gets home or I go to a friends house.
I also hate touching chemicals, I wear gloves up to my elbows!
I'm a fast cleaner too :D
Love this post!

I'm the same way with cleaning my home.. give me a lil notice i'll answer the door sweating because a tornado just went through and cleaned everything up.. that's why i HATE unexpected guests.. My weird fact is: as much as my pups breaths can smell I still love it.. It reminds me of when they were babies and their "puppy breath". Weird I know :/

Ah, we all have some weird tendencies and habits, right?! Well, from the comments above that's a hell yes :) one of my weird tendencies is that my arms "pop" on a consistent basis from whee I tore the ligaments in my arm in middle school. It's kind of like when your knuckles crack, except it's my arms...and now you know!

Britney Jean said...

A weird fact about me? I can't sleep with any limbs over the edge of the bed. It's like some part of me STILL thinks there's monsters under the bed. HA!

A weird thing? Hmmmm....oh my I cant beliieve I'm going to admit this....

I never fold laundry....never ever...that's what our guest bed is for ;)

fun post! may I suggest you clean with vinegar and water? it is better than soap!

weird things about me:
I see words in patterns. Like if a word comes on a screen (or a short phrase) and is there for a long time, I will count the letters and if the word/phrase has an uneven amount of letters I deem it a 'bad' word. I don't know why. I also spell words on the back of my front teeth with my tongue when I am nervous or anxious. I have done this forever and have no idea why! It is almost a very mild OCD tendency!

I love the picture you posted! Beautiful!!

Weird thing... hmm.. I have to shower in the exact same order of washing every day or I have to start all over. That is my only weird OCD thing but if my showers messed up, the whole day will be.

Hi Melissa I am your new follower! I love your blog and I really enjoyed today's post. So I thought I would join in on the comments and tell you a weird thing about me, even though there are MANY.

When I start cleaning and think that it will be just a tiddy up type of clean it ALWAYS turns into a deep clean of the whole apartment and then I cant clean without blasting the music so I can then do little dances while I am cleaning. And also I always love starting creative projects and I feel so good about them but then for whatever reason they NEVER get finished. Also I cant sleep in the apartment by myself either, I dont normally go sleep somewhere else but I either have bad dreams and hot sweats or wait till the fiance gets home.

Ummmm....let's see. Where to start? One thing, when I eat oatmeal every morning, I like a little bite of uncooked oats. Idk. I know, weird. Oh, and I procrastinate on things by cleaning or organizing something else.

Oh I have a few weird facts! But I won't bore you with too many!

1. My bed is on the very far side of my room and I can't sleep with my back facing the room. I feel like something is going to pop out of the closets and eat me or something! Ha!

2. I love love love to eat icing out of the container and eat my mozzerella sticks with ranch or caesar dressing!

3. I broke my arm when I was 18 but I didn't actually know it was broken. (I thought it was just popped really bad!) Now it turns completely around instead of locking out regularly when I lean back on both arms. It grosses all my friends out!

Oh I have a lot of weird facts!

Just one?!?! I am scared to death of fish. If I am swimming in the lake / river /ocean... and you yell fish... I might drown. really. My sister thinks it is funny, but I have a heart attack every. time.

AND my husband has a 150 gal fish tank in my kitchen... I will feed them, but I will never put my hand never or in the water!

XOXO, Nichole

Anytime I come home... Even from taking the dog on a 5 minute walk... I check every closet, under the beds and couches, behind shower curtains and in the lower cabinets.

For some reason I think someone will be waiting for me there. In the cabinets filled with lots and pans...

Oh and I can't say cinnamon it comes out "SI-MAH-NEN"
:)

I am with you on the spending the night alone in my house...I HAVE done it, but it scares me.

Weird thing - I check my walk-in closet every night before going to bed. You never know when someone has broken into the house WITHOUT setting off the alarm and getting past our 65 pound dog, right?!?! ;-)

LOVE this post!! So fun to get to know things about you that we wouldn't normal talk about. I too am a huge procrastinator, but totally type A, anal, crazy organized!

I will NOT eat with a spoon, unless I have to (like for soup or melting ice cream). There's just something about all of that metal. Ick.

No matter how hot it is, I have to sleep with a blanket wrapped around my neck to "protect"--just want to make sure that no one can cut off my head, so I don't want to give them easy access to my neck.

And on the note of sleeping at home alone--I hate that. I hope I never have to do it again, though I likely will. The hubby worked night shift for more than a year, and you really don't get used to it!

I loved getting to know you more! I can't stay in my house at night by myself either & I can not stand talking infront of small crowds - says the girl who performed in the nutcracker 18 times - seriously fun post!

Hmmm random fact about me:

Ha my husband finds this SO weird. I do not like lettuce on my tacos or on chicken sandwiches but I love salad. I only like ketchup on my burgers if it's from mcdonalds otherwise any other place or grilled burgers have to have mayo and I have to dip just about everything in ranch. :)

I totally love this! I have a few:

After I shower the FIRST thing I do is rub my face with the towel. It's the best feeling in the world!

I have always slept with one leg out from under the covers. My Dad calls it my thermometer!

I repeat myself by moving my lips after saying something sometimes to make sure I said it the right way. Its a bad habit I have had since I was a kid.

I have an obsession with people spelling my name wrong, especially on Facebook. I mean c'mon! It's right there in front of you!! Ugh. I am also a spelling and grammar nazi in general. I often find myself proofreading things without meaning to. I actually got so frustrated at a book one time with its constant context and grammar errors that I stopped reading!

Thanks for this post! It's inspiring me to write my own!

Like my street address 312 - I'd see that and go oh 3+1+2=6. Yeah...all the time, at random. I don't even like math at all!!!!!

Cute post...love it!

Weird fact about me: when I walk down the sidewalk, I don't necessarily avoid cracks in the sidewalk, but if I step on one with one foot, then I have to step on another one with my other foot, in the same place (ball of my foot, middle, heel, etc). So usually I do just avoid cracks to avoid chaos!

Kendall said...

haah! love this post. Weird fact, eh? Where to start -

umm. If I bump my arm against a wall while walking I have to go back and touch the same spot I bumped. It's weird, it's OCD, but it's me - lol!

Amanda said...

Well I could have written this about myself except for the last two. :)But staying home alone - that's only happened once since we bought our house, and I had a gun by my bed "just in case."

Weird fact about me: I am really, really, really opinionated, but I rarely share my opinions.

When I am driving I frequently check my back seat. I don't want any creepy killers sitting back there. I've seen way to many movies.

I can't swim in a lake when I can't see the bottom. I am afraid to swim where it's deep. I don't know what is swimming below me. It's weird because I am a competitive swimmer so you would think that nothing about water scares me.

I am VERY outgoing, but if you get me in front of a crowd or even lots of people I know I get really quiet and shy. Kind of opposite but if I am in front of a few people like 1-20 I'm outgoing. It's weird.

I'm having my first giveaway and a linkup party come check me out!
