It's so weird to think that someone cares enough about me to make a rude mean comment on some of my posts this week. The comments which I am pretty sure are by the same "anonymous" commenter stated that I was just into blogging for the followers. HA, When I told my husband he immediately said, "well, isn't that why you put your blog on the internet so that people will follow it?" We had a few laughs and then I shared it with my sister and brother in-law who also laughed and said the exact same thing...
I started blogging just because... No real reason just thought I had a few thoughts here and there that would be fun to write down. I did some posts on infertility and how I have struggled the past 7 years with it, I did posts about my life as a pastor's kid, I did posts on diy projects and recipes, I have done a good variety of posts, at least I think.
As I pushed to get my blog out there, so to speak, I started getting more and more followers. Yes! I was so excited that people were reading my blog! And yes, I now blog because of my followers, because of the readers, because I know that they like the posts that I decide to blog about. They like me, and thats why they follow me.
I've been hearing a lot of bloggers recently say that "well they are just getting a lot of followers because they have linkups and giveaways all the time". I just have to laugh at how annoying the "I don't blog for followers" types are because it feels like, at least to me, they are trying to force everyone to take on that "type" by tweeting it, blogging about it, leaving comments on other bloggers posts who fail to meet that criteria. WHY DO THEY EVEN CARE WHAT OTHER BLOGGERS PUT ON THEIR BLOG!! If they really were the "I just want true genuine followers" type then they would know that everybody has their different ways of connecting with their readers. For instance if you post christian posts all the time, a big portion of your followers will be christian, same with music posts, fashion post, linkups, giveaways, mom posts. If you choose to not do linkups on your blog that is totally fine, you will get followers who probably don't care for linkups. It just makes me annoyed that someone would care about the "type" of followers I have.
It's my blog, I can run it how I want... if I want to party every week- SO BE IT! I LOVE PARTIES!! I want people to come to my blog and have fun, to interact with others, to learn through different series, to crack up at my posts or to even shed an occasional tear. If you don't like my blog or what I post every day, then that is OK, not everyone will like everyone in this world, but you can guarantee that I will NOT go to your blog and leave a mean comment- 1. Because I have class and 2. Because I just don't have that kind of time in my day!
Blogging is about community, friends, meeting tons of different types of people... What's the point in leaving mean comments? It does nothing but tear others down. There is enough hate in this world, why can't the blogging community be a safe haven for ladies (and guys) all over the world to just be themselves. If you hit 200 followers and tweet about it, I am going to SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS because I am genuinely excited for you! That's what blogging's about.
So after my my rant and rave, I really do appreciate each and everyone of my readers! They make my days AMAZING with comments and emails and crazy support!! I try my hardest to support every one of them with the love they have shown my little blog and I.
I for sure have the best readers a blogging girl could ask for :)
Oh and go check out Raven's post on being a Blog Snob, seriously the best post ever!!

This post totally hits close to home. I have a blog/vlog and haven't had any rude comments on the blog yet, but I've had several on my YouTube channel. I vlog on pregnancy and my little girl so I was floored when people would actually leave mean/hurtful comments. They must not have anything better to do. But I'm learning that I'm developing a thicker skin when it comes to these things. If they don't like what I write/film, they don't have to read/watch! :) And I LOVE your blog!
I love your blog and I think it is truly genuine. Jealousy has an awful way of showing itself and the face of the person will show it's ugly self soon. Stay positive girl. Your blog is the "beep" lol!! I love it!!
you shout it fromthe freakin' rooftops! hahaha :)
Can we say JEALOUS!!! LOL...if they don't like your blog they don't have to read it!! Obviously they do cause they took the time to read/comment. I LOVE it!! I am a lifetime followerer! Nasty mean negative people will always be nasty mean negative people!! KEEP POSTING MELISSA!!
Love love love your blog!! 'Nuf said :-) Keep up the awesome work, love!!!

Amen! Who cares how many link up parties you do? I mean, yes they are to gain followers, but they're also to find new blogs and to give you a prompt when you're out of ideas. Plus, I was doing a weekly thing at one point and then I saw that there was a link up for it, so I may as well link up a post I was already doing.
You blog for you, but you also blog to meet people.
Your haters are just that: haters. ignore them and keep making awesome blog posts.
-Paige :)
this is good!!! if you don't like it don't show up to the party right? :)

Well put. It's amazing to me how much time people must have if they are reading a blog they don't like and leaving rude comments. It takes time to do both. I, for one, love your blog and now need to go back and read from the beginning because I'm learning new things about you each day. Hugs.
Well said! <3
AMEN!
Some people. All I can say is that I read your blog because it's fun, you have good stories, and great ideas. I like your parties because I get to see what everyone else is up to, and find some great ideas. And those link ups ARE great for increasing your followers, which in turns means you might meet more great people and make new friends. So keep doing what you're doing, I think you are an ExtraOridinary blogger!!

There's No Place Like Home
It's ridiculous what people will do behind the veil of anonymity. If you don't like a blog, don't read it. Unless someone's causing harm, there's no need to be rude. I think you're fabulous :)
Wow Melissa! You've hit the big time!! You've got HATERS!! Now you are keeping up with the kardashians! Next the papparozzi will be chasing you down! YOU GO GIRL!! BTW...LOVE LOVE LOVE the blog!!
Totally agree with you! Plus if someone wants to say something they shouldn't hide who they are...seems to me like making an anonymous comment is pretty much admiting that you shouldn't be saying what you're saying. Boo to mean people!
Amen sista! Keep up the good work. Judith, Texas
Couldn't agree more. We all blog for different purposes, and we have to support each other in those differences.

AMEN! This is so awesome! Youare such a great person to post about this. I never understood why people go out of their way... I barely have enough time to comment on the blogs I actually enjoy..nevermind ones I don't like..why would someone even do that?
You go girl. I've had experience with snotty bloggers too. They actually started sending mean tweets about me when all I did was compliment her and she misinterpreted it. It would be nice if people like that weren't involved in blogging at all.
Amen sista! Stick to your guns. Maybe that anonymous should show their face :)
Hello! Just stopping by from the Rags to Stitches giveaway. :)
Love it! I appreciate both sides of the debate. I definately love followers but I don't change me writing to appeal to others. But on the other hand, I don't want to just blog for followers. Thanks for the encouragement.
Hit the nail right on the head there, honey!
Blog for you and your readers, not some anon who is too scared to put a name to their comments xo
"if I want to party every week- SO BE IT! I LOVE PARTIES!! "
That part right there made my whole night. thanks so much for posting! And who cares what others think? I'm personally glad I'M YOUR FOLLOWER1 I LOVE FOLLOWING!
teehee♥
This is a great post! I completely agree with you! I don't have a lot of followers but I get excited when I gain new ones! Thanks for putting the (and guys) in there! I know theirs few of us! I can't believe someone would make comments like that!
Awww..I'm sorry people have to be so mean! I agree that we all need to quit judging others and just get along ! Just cause we live on a cruel world doesn't mean we have to be that way! I wish I could just see that person face to face and let her know I understand that people must have been mean to her so she is just being mean back. She's probably hurting because she has no friends and feels deep inside jealousy towards others who do have friends. She needs to know that to HAVE friends, she needs to BE a friend and saying mean things is not being a friend. Anyway, I think we can all learn from this, and next time, THINK before we SPEAK!
Thank you Melissa for sharing your heart! From your blog it looks like ypu are a really nice, kind person, and the world needs more of those, so thanks for setting an example!
That is hilarious and terrible! I'm so glad you called them out on it! There is absolutely no point to criticizing someone elses blog, its just plain rude. I love your blog! I follow it because you are fun and genuine and I've already connected with a bunch of other bloggers from participating in your link-ups! I really appreciate you Melissa!!

Why would anyone leave a mean comment? And they know the comment is mean, otherwise they wouldn't be anonymous. NOT COOL. So Jr. High.
Your blog is lovely. Your hops are fun and your posts are good reading. It only makes sense that a good blog would have a good # of followers. To me, a blog follower is a READER. Writers want readers. And readers don't stick around if the writing doesn't pull them in.
Disappointing that someone would not cheer for a fellow writer or a fellow blogger or a fellow anything. There is room in this world for all types of blogs and bloggers.
So sorry you got mean comments.
Haters gonna hate hun!! Love you and your blog!
I wrote a post about Blog drama and how to remove anon comments, because they suck lol!
Enjoy! :)

well put. everyone is entitled to run their blog as they want! if people dont like it...they can just NOT FOLLOW you! simple as that.
I've seen this alot lately floating around the blogs and I 100% agree with you.
Sure, I don't like so things that bloggers do or might post about but it is not my blog to care about. I care about my blog and my followers and what they think, and they must like it since they stick around.
I totally agree with this. I am a new blogger and I started because I just like to write and share my thoughts. The one thing that has surprised me is how much drama is actually in the blogging community. I don't get it, and I don't want any part of it. I just want to write.
Love your blog. I'm now following you. I can't wait to go through your archives and read some older posts.
Happy blogging!
You go girl! ;) Keep doing what you're doin!
