How to Organize Your Coupons

Yes, its true I have been living off of my "stockpile" for an entire year. For the past year I have not bought toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, and the list goes on and on. So if anyone ever doubted (and believe me there are people out there) the fact that couponing saves you money, I am living proof that it does. I have not touched a coupon in a couple months just because we got busy with life and a thousand other things, but we we're still able to live off of what I had couponed for and in return saved A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY!!

I am 100% for couponing and always will be! So after my break from it, I decided I need to get back into it and restock the stockpile! haha, sounds funny but couponing can be pretty fun and addicting especially when you have a husband who joins in with you ;)

So my first post back into couponing, I will be pulling an article I wrote back when I had a Coupon Facebook Page. Since then I have moved on to the Coupon Clutch which you can read about here, but the organization is the same.

So here it is:

Alright where to start when it comes to organizing your coupon binder?! It can take some time at first cutting the coupons and so on but just remember the time will pay off once you get good at couponing! Im still learning but I think I got a good system going, learning from thekrazycouponlady.com and hip2save.com!

I have my binder organized in categories so
  1. When I dont pre make a list I can flip to the category I am in like the freezer section and just browse through any deals I might find
  2. Making categories can save a lot of time looking for coupons when your trying to match things up.

You can make whatever categories work best for you, but for me the more categories the better, it seems to save a lot of time in the end.

Here is a list of my categories and the order I have them in:
Baking
Breads
Breakfast
Candy
Canned
Condiments/Salad Dressings
Drinks
Freezer
Granola Bars/Fruit Snacks
Meats
Pastas
Prepared Sides
Produce
Refrigerated
Snacks
Soups
Yogurt
Air Fresheners/Candles
Baby
Beauty
Cleaners
Dish Washing
Feminine Hygiene
Hair Care
Laundry
Lotions
Medicine/First Aid
Miscellaneous
Oral Care
Plastics
Paper Products
Shaving/Deoderant
Soap/Body Wash
Vitamins

I make tabs for each my categories. Then to hold my coupons I buy the plastic baseball card holders. Which you can get a pack of 65 at target in the front of the store.

HAVE FUN ORGANIZING YOUR BINDER! And remember its whatever works best for YOU!
