I know I am so far behind in the movie category, but has anyone seen the movie Courageous? I just watched it and WOW, it is sooooo powerful! I am usually not one for “christian” movies with the cheesy lines but this one surprised me!
I don’t know why but once again God has just encouraged me as a wife through this movie. The movie is about men, fathers, husbands, and integrity, courage and faith. I just fell in love with the attitude of these men and how they strived to honor God by putting him first in their households. I cried during the movie for two reasons: (I’m about to get real honest here)
1. Because I see my husband in those men. I don’t mean to be prideful or boastful when it comes to my husband but if only you knew his real heart. He is a man of courage, a man of integrity, a man who puts God first in his life, a man who loves me like no other has and I can tell just by how he looks at me. He tells me he loves me everyday, he makes me tea when I’m sick, he helps me with my zillion hobbies, he encourages me everyday. I know I may seem strong, but my husband is my rock, and my husband’s rock is GOD. When I watched that movie and the way those men were it reminded me of my husband as well as my dad. My dad always said “a real man is a man who serves God.”
During the movie the men made a resolution and this is where I cried, its word for word amazing.
I DO solemnly resolve before God to take full responsibility for myself, my wife, and my children.
I WILL love them, protect them, serve them, and teach them the Word of God as the spiritual leader of my home.
I WILL be faithful to my wife, to love and honor her, and be willing to lay down my life for her as Jesus Christ did for me.
I WILL bless my children and teach them to love God with all of their hearts, all of their minds, and all of their strength.
I WILL train them to honor authority and live responsibly.
I WILL confront evil, pursue justice, and love mercy.
I WILL pray for others and treat them with kindness, respect, and compassion.
I WILL work diligently to provide for the needs of my family.
I WILL forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those I have wronged.
I WILL learn from my mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God.
I WILL seek to honor God, be faithful to His church, obey His Word, and do His will.
I WILL courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. —Joshua 24:15
2. My second reason for crying is because I can’t wait for my husband to be a father. He has all that I stated above to give to children of his own someday and I can’t wait for him to experience that. I know that nothing in life is guaranteed but man how can God have given me such an amazing man, and not give us children. Children he could teach about God, courage, integrity, etc. It’s a funny thing, I know I only see a piece of the picture and it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but I know God’s up there holding the “BIG” picture saying “STOP WORRYING, just wait ’til you see what I see.”
So ya, go see the movie it will change the way you look at your husband, your family, yourself. It’s a must see for ALL.
